New Impressions: THICK, Boy In Space, Jamie-Lee Dimes, Adult Mom, and more!

THICK are a three piece punk band from Brooklyn. They just released the nostalgia infused music video for their latest single “Bumming Me Out”. The band’s debut album 5 Years Behind will be released on March 6th via Epitaph Records. The band will also be supporting the record with a spring tour with The Chats that kicks off on April 11th and wraps up in their hometown on May 7th.

“It’s one of our more vulnerable songs lyrically, so it was important to inject the video with some playfulness. We collaborated on the concept with Nic Henry (director). He had wanted to introduce the ‘Chill Reaper’ character for a while, so we worked him into the slumber party story, as the night gets weirder and weirder. We constructed the set in Nikki’s bedroom as a throwback to our own bedrooms growing up, so there’s also a sense of nostalgia throughout.”

Boy In Space had a huge second half of 2019 which included a slew of tour dates with Alec Benjamin. He has released his first single of 2020 “Caroline”. The track is the first of three set to be released this Spring. The single was a crowd favorite during his tour with Alec Benjamin. The song expresses the commonly felt feelings of having a crush on someone that is out of your league. Listen to the track below and add Boy In Space to your artists to watch list.

Adult Mom are heading out on a massive tour with Palehound that kicks off at the end of the month. Before they leave for several weeks the band has released their new song “Berlin”. About the new single Stevie Knipe says, “‘Berlin’ is a song that took over a year to write. It’s about processing the loss of an important friendship without knowing the exact cause of the loss. Through loss, there are moments recalled, like meeting for the first time, the moment you got close with that person, singing “hole” in dorm rooms, drinking beer in a bathroom, and of course, the complete paralyzation that comes with loss. It’s about being in between healed and not, and trying my best to calculate the reasons why she left.”

Exciting up and coming Australian artist Jamie-Lee Dimes has released her single “Release Me”. Dimes uses her tunes to advocate for social change. Her folksy sound filled with honest and deep cutting lyricism allows her to touch on sensitive topics. “Release Me” takes on the complicated feelings that come with the crushing feeling of being different in a less than welcoming political climate.
