Electro-pop duo Magdalena Bay released their new single Venice. The synth laden tune is dripping with sick melodies and a sweet bass line that dances around twinkly notes. The song is danceable and fun while encouraging listeners to live in the moment. Venice is a sweet summer track.
Boy Scouts released the stunning and dreamy new single Hate Ya 2 this week. The Oakland based singer-songwriter should be on your radar as she gears up to release her record “Free Company” on August 30th and jump on tour supporting Jay Som. The album was recorded in a tiny rented shipping container with her friend Stephen Steinbrink.
About the single Boy Scouts says, “‘Hate Ya 2’ is about trying to grapple with conflicting feelings. When you still have love for someone who can also make you feel undervalued and hurt, and how confusing that experience can be. The process of recording this song felt very cathartic. Stephen [Steinbrink] and I drove out to my parent’s house with my friend Rose Droll to have her record piano on a few songs from the record, and when she played along to this one we tracked a few takes of her improvising. It added such a beautiful melancholic element, in true Rose Droll fashion.” “Free Company” is available for pre-order here.
