New Impressions: Dean Lewis, Prblm Chld, Sara Bareilles, Foster The People, Alan Walker, and more!

We’ve got another diverse lineup for our New Impressions roundup this week. A strong week for releases featuring a range of artists from Sara Bareilles to Prblm Chld to Alan Walker feat. Sabrina Carpenter and Farruko. Listen to our updated New Impressions playlist on the sidebar and take it to go by hitting follow here.

Dean Lewis’ new song Stay Awake dropped. The drum heavy hit is a passionate single full of heart and honesty. A simple pleading of “stay awake with me” dotes on the trials and tribulations of love. Dean Lewis is an artist to watch for the rest of 2019. He is destined to propel into the Top 40 realm very soon.

Queen Sara Bareilles has provided us with a soothing and heartwarming classic tune. Saint Honesty is a phenomenal vocal performance from the songstress. With a jazzy pairing of piano and light drum beat, the song is just the sweetness that we have come to expect and adore from Bareilles.

Foster The People released their lo-fi influenced banger, Style. The song is a classy jive that will have you bopping your head along and singing along after the second listening. The synth drives the song to be an anthemic Foster The People usual delivery.

Alan Walker teamed up with Farruko and Sabrina Carpenter for an electro pop masterpiece. In an era where the “pop drop” still rules it’s hard to come across a song that doesn’t sound like it has been done a thousand times. Tying in elements of Latin pop/trap with a Spanish verse from Farruko with Carpenter’s underappreciated vocals makes On My Way a tasteful pop tune that can become one of the songs of the summer in a few weeks.

Prblm Chld is the creation of Fil Thorpe-Evans. The formerly pop-punk bassist has stepped into new territory with this project and it seems like he has found a perfect fit for his creativity. Prblm Chld’s debut single Voices feature Jess Coppens is the perfect intersection of experimentation and creative risk. The synth driven tune dives into pop sensibilities head first while still maintaining a high degree of originality.

Marina City released a music video for their single Addicted this week. The groovy pop single is guaranteed to be stuck in your head as the sultry verses lead into a mesmerizing chorus. Watch the video below.

Honorable mentions for this week include the new song Phases from Ashlee + Evan, 2all by Catfish and the Bottlemen, and Young and Doomed from Frank Iero and the Future  Violents.
