New Impressions feat. Lennon Stella, Parker McKay, Super Cassette, Karen O+Danger Mouse & more!

A New Impressions feature with a very diverse lineup. Turning the clocks forward last Sunday left us with more hours of sunlight and this past Friday left us with great new songs to soundtrack those extra moments of sunshine. Listen to the full playlist on our sidebar or check it out here.

Lennon Stella and Jake Miller deliver our dose of Pop for the playlist. Lennon Stella’s biting new single BITCH (takes one to know one) is a powerhouse for strong women everywhere. Contrary to what it may seem like at first glance, the single is actually about girls not tolerating any derogatory terms from their significant others and reclaiming the power of words.

Jake Miller brings a synth filled classic pop tune that rides on the simplicity of one object bringing you back to a certain moment or person. Miller is currently on tour with Logan Henderson and Just Seconds Apart. View the full list of dates and purchase tickets here.

Switching Pop gears towards Country Pop, Parker McKay is back with her new single This Far. The Nashville singer/songwriter made her debut in 2016 and has since been making a name for herself. Her anthemic song talks about a relationship worth  fighting for in a non-cheesy way. It’s so refreshing to see all the women in country music taking risks sonically and exploring all the possibilities within their genre. Parker McKay will be joining the ranks of Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves, and Cassadee Pope very soon.

Bay area Garage-pop band, Super Cassette released their new single Better In Reverse. The single features fuzzy guitar, harmonies, and a subtle touch on many of the things that are wrong in this world via the lyrics. Watch the 90’s-esque music video below.

Continuing the wave of indulgent, instrumentally driven songs that make your soul soar, Karen O and Danger Mouse have teamed up for Lux Prima. The ethereal and absolutely soul-engulfing track is rightfully named. The song feels lush and luxurious as it transitions from these various spirals that make it feel like several masterpieces wrapped in one. There aren’t many artists that would be able to captivate your attention on one song for a little over nine minutes, but Lux Prima is worth every second of it cinematic masterpiece.

Other honorable mentions of new additions to our playlist include indie-rock band MAYVE‘s new single Head High, Cheat Codes’ newest collaboration with Daniel Blume, and Better Than Mending‘s Unearthed off of their Desired Lines release.
